AD7606B is a strong fit for industrial systems that must sample several bipolar signals at the same instant, but the most common sourcing mistake occurs before any specification comparison: AD7606BBSTZ and AD7606BSTZ are different order codes from different product generations. The extra B in the newer LQFP model is significant. A buyer should quote the exact approved model, packing and revision requirements rather than asking for “AD7606B stock.”

The earlier AD7606 family provides 16-bit simultaneous sampling at lower maximum throughput. The AD7606B raises the per-channel rate to 800 kSPS and adds software-mode capabilities, including per-channel input ranges, calibration, diagnostics and monitoring.

Control the distinction in every system that touches the BOM:

ADI states that AD7606B is fully compatible with AD7606 in hardware mode and published a 2025 migration application note. That makes it a manufacturer-supported migration path, but production approval still belongs to the design owner.

Tighter case: automation, test and power-infrastructure programs ramp together, concentrating demand on already-qualified simultaneous-sampling ADCs. Triggers include factory dates moving out, more unconfirmed quotes or reduced authorized stock depth. Secure released-program coverage and accelerate the validated AD7606-to-AD7606B transition.

Softer case: demand growth normalizes or customers defer capital equipment. Channel inventory improves. Preserve commercial flexibility and avoid buying long coverage solely from a company growth statistic.

Begin alternate work when a single-source converter’s recovery time exceeds the program’s inventory coverage, not after the confirmed date is missed. Define the complete analog signal chain and sampling requirement before searching.

An alternate must meet input range and impedance, simultaneous channel count, resolution, sample rate, noise and accuracy, protection, reference, digital interface, package, temperature and lifecycle requirements. Firmware, calibration data, PCB layout and compliance testing may all change.
